20th century

In the earlier half of the century, London went through a period of Art Deco before it was heavily damaged by the war years. There was a shortage in housing after the Second World War, and many high-rise blocks ended up being built to combat the crisis, altering the appearance of the city. Brutalist buildings then started becoming more prevalent in the 1960s and 70s, and then turning to more modern constructions towards the end of the century.
